Why this matters now
AI can already explain, tutor and assess any child, at any hour. The question is no longer whether it will change education, but what school is for once knowledge is free: judgement, creativity, resilience, and the ability to work with people and with machines. Yet most schools still run on age-based year groups, fixed timetables and a single pace for everyone, a model designed for a very different world. The choices made in the next few years will shape what our children are ready for.
Two credible voices, two vantage points
Mike Lambert is Global Education Director of Inspired Education Group, which educates over 95,000 students in more than 125 schools worldwide. An Oxford graduate, he spent a decade as Headmaster of Dubai College, one of the world’s most selective international schools, before taking on the group’s global education agenda, including how AI is used in learning.
Pedro Santa Clara is Professor of Finance at Nova SBE and led the creation of its Carcavelos campus. He founded TUMO in Portugal and brought the 42 programming school to Lisbon and Porto, giving thousands of young people new ways to learn. He is one of the country’s most prominent voices on rethinking education for the age of AI.
One has delivered excellence inside the established school; the other has built alternatives to it. Together they will explore the opportunities and risks of AI, how education must evolve, and what should remain unmistakably human.
An afternoon of lunch, candid debate and fresh perspectives on the future of learning.
