Chef Octavio Freitas was born in Câmara de Lobos and at the age of 11, due to a strong family connection to gastronomy and food, he discovered that he wanted to be a Chef. At the age of 15, he graduated from the Professional School of Hospitality and Tourism in Madeira, but it was throughout the island, amidst traditions, gastronomic adventures, and regional knowledge, that Chef Octavio learned more about ingredients and how to cook.
One of the most creative chefs of his generation, he still maintains an incessant search for training, new techniques and the expansion and sharing of knowledge. He is passionate about everything that comes from the earth and has an Epicurean vision of traditional products in quality cuisine. He personally cultivates organic gardens and dedicates himself to researching and studying typical ingredients on the island. He is the author of the book “Receitas com Mel”, an important archive of knowledge about Madeiran sugarcane honey. He presented “Sabores da Madeira” on RTP Madeira. Collaborates weekly on Rádio Antena 1 in the radio show “Da Terra à Mesa”. He is Executive Chef at The Views hotels and Chef at Restaurante Desarma.
