ELAS e o Jazz pays tribute to the most famous vocal trio in jazz history, the Andrews Sisters. Mariana Norton, Joana Machado, and Marta Hugon recreate the unmistakable vocal harmonies of Patty, Laverne, and Maxene, revisiting some of their greatest hits, which earned them the title of “America’s Sweethearts” during World War II.
The Andrews Sisters sold millions of records and remain an influential reference to this day, inspiring artists as diverse as The Supremes, Destiny’s Child, Christina Aguilera, Bette Midler, and the Manhattan Transfer.
ELAS sing Andrews Sisters celebrates this influence through the sound created by the three Portuguese voices, bringing to the present the bold vocal style—reminiscent of the brass sections in jazz orchestras—that graced radio and cinema in their era.
