Fafá's relationship of love and complicity with Portugal spans almost 40 years. From the first time, and whenever she arrives in our country, she recognizes the smells and flavors of Belém, the most Portuguese city in Brazil, which sends her to a very intimate place – her grandmother's house.
Fafá received the Commendation of the Infante Dom Henrique Order of Merit in 2009 and the Medal of Tourist Merit in 2011. She is affectionately called “The most Portuguese of Brazilian singers”. She was the first Brazilian singer to record a fado album, with the same producer as Amália Rodrigues, bringing a more contemporary view of the rhythm. Portugal is present not only in her life story, but also in her work, in her artistic influence, in her name (a promise from her parents to Our Lady of Fátima), and in her roots as a Portuguese descendant and citizen - a place which she has chosen as her home and which she is always ready to share and speak passionately about.
